Main purpose of the job

The primary purpose of this position is to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Commission and ensure that the agency’s seven operational units operate at maximum efficiency. This position is also responsible for overseeing the agency’s Management for Results (MFR) initiatives and developing ongoing strategies to ensure l1FR goals and objectives are achieved. He coordinates with the Attorney General’s Office on all matters related to lawsuits filed against the Authority as well as matters that require legal review and/or interpretation.

Duties of the position

As the principal director of the Maryland Parole Commission, this position oversees day-to-day operations and ensures that the commission’s seven operational units operate at maximum efficiency. This position is also responsible for overseeing the agency’s Management for Results (MFR) initiatives and developing ongoing strategies to ensure the achievement of MFR goals and objectives. This position coordinates with the Attorney General’s Office on all matters related to lawsuits filed against the Authority as well as matters requiring legal review and/or interpretation. This position also:

  • The President assists in the general administration of the authority, which includes eighty employees; Serves as the designated appointing authority for the agency in the absence of the President; Monitors the Agency’s budget in cooperation with the President, and develops, clarifies and disseminates Agency policy; Assess staffing and reassignment needs; Establishes performance standards for committee units; Reviews performance evaluations and enforces progressive discipline when appropriate.
  • Meets regularly with Commission unit managers to ensure the achievement of agency goals and objectives; Ensures policies are reviewed and updated as necessary; Review and evaluate unit productivity and make recommendations and/or determine what action should be taken to improve unit productivity; Train and educate employees about new initiatives; Implements new programs or procedures when necessary. undefined·
  • Manages, directs, supervises and evaluates subordinate employees; Guides unit managers and employees to maintain a high level of efficiency regarding operations.
  • Assists in developing and implementing programs and projects in cooperation with sister agencies. Meets regularly with agency managers to address concerns and develop solutions to problems.
  • Develop Management for Results (MFR) goals, objectives and strategies to achieve them; Compiles, reviews, evaluates and evaluates MFR data and reports and findings/recommendations for communication to departments.
  • Coordinates litigation with the Attorney General’s Office and seeks legal advice on cases requiring resolutions; Prepares the agency’s annual report; Responds to inquiries from the Maryland Judiciary, the Attorney General’s Office, State’s Attorneys, social agencies and programs, prisoners and attorneys regarding parole-related or specific issues.

Minimum qualifications

education: Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, social work, sociology, psychology, or political science.

expertise: Three (3) years’ experience working in a corrections or criminal justice related agency with two (2) years of experience supervising or managing others.

Required or preferred qualifications

The following qualifications are preferred but not required.

1. He holds a doctorate in law

2. Experience working with the National Crime Information Center (NCIC), Offender Case Management System (OCMS) and/or Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS)
