  • Provide key input as a leader and industry expert, staying ahead of legal trends and influencing industry standards.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, leading to the adoption of cutting-edge legal techniques and best practices.
  • Manage legal risks, protect PayPal’s legal interests, and develop forward-looking risk management strategies.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Minimum of 18 years of relevant work experience (practice in-house or at a prestigious firm, with a focus on financial services) and a Juris Doctor degree or equivalent.

  • Experience advising clients on issues related to (1) financial services regulations (e.g., state money transmitter laws, Reg E, UDAAP, and the Remittance Remittance Rule); (2) marketing regulations (e.g., FTC, CAN-SPAM, TCPA, and applicable industry guidelines); (3) data privacy laws as they relate to financial institutions; (4) consumer protection laws; and (v) guidance from federal and state agencies (e.g., CFPB, FTC, CA DFPI, NY DFS).
  • Familiarity with card network rules, ACH, and applicable third party policies and guidelines (e.g., App Rating Guidelines, App Marketplace Rules).
  • Experience managing teams and designing support models to achieve business goals.
  • Experience dealing with state and federal agencies.
  • Ability and motivation to take ownership of projects and tasks.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, adapt to change, and move forward through ambiguity.
  • Confident self-starter with strong interpersonal and organizational skills and a proven ability to effectively provide sound legal advice, exercise good business judgment, and work well with stakeholders.
  • Familiarity and strong interest in mobile payments, alternative payments, emerging payments technology and the payments industry.
  • Comfort with gray areas and interpreting and applying the law in unstable contexts.
  • Creative thinker with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, while effectively resolving conflicting priorities.
