Veterinary Purchasing Company Limited (VP) Maries, Ontario, is the largest supplier of veterinary products in Ontario and is currently looking to add a dynamic individual to join our IT team for a permanent, full-time position:_

Full stack software developer

Reporting to the Software Development Team Leader, the full-service developer is responsible for working with the software development team to develop and test complex, cross-platform compatible user interfaces, enhancing our web systems for internal and public stakeholders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Developed Clojure based microservices applications using Clojurescript front end
• Maintain and improve existing service applications for medium and large sized projects
• Work with key stakeholders to develop user requirements, technical support, and operations documentation
• Participate in code reviews as well as agile scrums
• Create user documentation as well as technical support and operations documentation
• Understand and follow all applicable standard operating procedures as required
• Other duties as assigned

What you’ll need to succeed:

• Experience with JVM-based languages, such as Java or Clojure
• Clojurescript and reframe experience is a bonus
• SQL databases like Postgres, DB2 or others
• Development tools such as Git and Jira
• Container environments like Docker or Kubernetes
• Associate or university degree, computer science or related field, or equivalent experience
• 3-5 years in a software development role
• Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to adapt and learn new software
• Ability to work efficiently as part of a distributed remote team or on-site in St Marys Ontario. Travel to our head office in St Mary’s may occasionally be required.
