We strive for strategy and results-based Field Coordinator – Home Care To lead organizing efforts, increase membership density and develop strong and diverse member leadership across Oregon. In this pivotal role, you will supervise and mentor organizers in the field, manage statewide campaigns, and ensure that our association meets and exceeds growth standards important to our mission. This includes a special focus on supporting leadership development for all staff with a particular focus on women and women of color, who form the backbone of Oregon’s home care workforce. This role also supports language equity, ensuring that members are able to organize, participate and lead in the languages ​​in which they feel empowered.

As Field Coordinator – Home Care, you will be a driving force in expanding our reach, strengthening our voice, and empowering a home care workforce made up predominantly of women – who keep Oregon’s home care system running.

Essential functions and responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise internal organization staff to achieve measurable results in building density, membership growth and leadership development.
  • Plan and implement statewide campaigns in bargaining, political action, and worker empowerment.
  • Responsible for performance objectives and accountability systems that are aligned with the Federation’s overall strategic plan.
  • Promote equity by recruiting, training, and mentoring women and women of color in leadership roles at all levels of the union.
  • Promoting inclusive organizational practices that reflect the diversity of members.
  • Build partnerships with business councils, coalitions, and community organizations – especially those focused on racial and gender justice.
  • Maintain a direct organizational caseload to stay connected to the work being done in the field.
  • Establish a regular and consistent process/schedule for the field team that is aligned with the overall ITU strategic plan.
  • Support linguistic equity by creating inclusive spaces, materials, and strategies that ensure members are able to fully participate and lead in their preferred languages.

Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding union membership growth and density standards.
  • Demonstrated experience in promoting leadership among women and women of color in business or community organizing contexts.
  • Experience in organizing, collective bargaining, contract enforcement, political advocacy, and leadership development.
  • Strong project management and strategic planning skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship building abilities across diverse communities.
  • – Proficient in relevant technology (Word, Excel, databases).
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to drive statewide.

Work environment:

☐ Group 1 – requires immediate or sustained strenuous physical activity
☒ Group 2 – requires occasional heavy lifting and effort for short periods

Combining office and field work; Frequent travel throughout the country. Flexible schedule with evening and weekend work as needed. Requires occasional lifting and short periods of physical exertion.

Wages and benefits:
Comprehensive fully paid health, dental and vision benefits for employees and eligible dependents, domestic partner benefits, generous vacation and vacation policies and a 15% employer-paid 401k defined contribution. Compensation range is based on experience of $95,592 – $125,880 annually.
