Your new role

Warner Bros. is looking to… Discovery is looking for an accomplished executive lawyer to lead its legal oversight Technology, commercial, live broadcast, marketing and distribution across the enterprise. This role will partner with senior leadership to provide strategic legal direction, oversee complex business transactions, and ensure compliance across multiple disciplines – including broadcast operations, product launches, technology buying, marketing, consumer experience, global advertising initiatives, and distribution partnerships.

Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, the successful candidate will combine deep experience in media law, technology, e-commerce, distribution and marketing with proven leadership skills to guide a high-performance team. This position requires a strategic thinker with the agility to address evolving regulatory landscapes, emerging technologies, and multi-region operational requirements.

Your role responsibilities

  • Providing legal support for regional launches and ongoing operations of the World Bank’s flagship broadcast services across more than 70 regions.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders in product, technology, strategy, marketing, customer service, content, public affairs, communications, tax, finance, corporate, research, data analytics, ad sales, procurement, privacy, regulatory, litigation, distribution, and intellectual property.
  • Advising on translation issues, including compliance with product features, marketing adjustments, purchasing flows, approval mechanisms, and child profile requirements.
  • Consulting on regional expansion, strategic regional initiatives, service closures and migrations, pricing changes, promotions, and customer/regulatory complaint resolution.
  • Support transactional work including distribution, collective rights management, and vendor agreements related to marketing, research, and international digital ad/ad technology sales.

Legal support for marketing and consumer experience

  • Serve as a product advisor to streaming services from a consumer protection, e-commerce, and marketing perspective, including automatic renewals, notices, disclosures, promotions, terms of use, and avoiding “dark patterns.”
  • Oversee compliance for global marketing campaigns, influencer marketing, sweepstakes and contests.
  • Negotiating agreements with marketing agencies, media buying agencies and relevant vendors.
  • Handling co-promotion agreements, affiliate marketing deals and other marketing-related transactions.
  • Providing legal support for physical and digital activation, off-channel content extensions and podcasts.

Technology and business transactions

  • Draft and negotiate technology, data, and equipment purchase, implementation, and use agreements for technology, operations, broadcast technology, and production/post-production teams.
  • Manage SaaS agreements, licensing agreements, professional services agreements, workforce management contracts, and other business arrangements.
  • Support the technology and logistical needs of TNT Sports and the Olympics, including vendor agreements for production, hospitality, studio space, pay-per-view technology and commercial distribution systems.

Distribution and partnerships

  • Representing WB in distribution negotiations for HBO Max and other content distribution arrangements.
  • Manage, negotiate and oversee commercial partnerships with HBO Max.
  • Providing legal support and negotiating bundling arrangements with other broadcast productions.

Institutional and cross-functional support

  • Providing legal support for commercial, technology, insurance/benefit and advisory agreements for research, finance, accounting, people, culture, tax, corporate communications, legal and travel functions.
  • Assisting corporate development/M&A legal with transition services agreements, inter-company structuring and services agreements.

Innovation and emerging technologies

  • Veterinary AI tools for legal and operational compliance.
  • Negotiating vendor agreements and proof of concept for AI and emerging technologies.
  • Prepare internal guidelines for the use of AI tools and ensure compliance with evolving regulatory requirements.

Content acquisition and global rights management

  • Acting as legal counsel for content acquisitions and rights management across the World Bank’s streaming services and television networks.
  • Structuring, negotiating and drafting major studio output and library deals, independent film acquisitions and first-run series licenses.
  • Overseeing the global “Rights In” exhibition and distribution of “Rights Out” titles across the World Bank’s portfolio.
  • Review and approve affiliate marketing plans, promotions and previews.
  • Advising on sports-related agreements, live event licensing, and new media applications (virtual, social, digital).
  • Participated in high-level legal workstreams around product launches (HBO Now, HBO Max, Max), rights system consolidation, financial platforms, and AI policies.

Qualifications and experience

  • 15+ years of legal experience with significant leadership responsibility, ideally in the global media, entertainment, technology or e-commerce sectors.
  • Experience in commercial and technology law, marketing, consumer protection and distribution, with direct experience in broadcast operations across multiple territories.
  • Proven ability to manage complex, high-volume agreements, from SaaS and technology purchases to large-scale marketing, distribution and partnership contracts.
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing cross-functional legal teams and advising senior executives.
  • Strong negotiation skills, with a proven track record of closing high-value, high-complexity deals to tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of international compliance requirements for product flow, distribution partnerships and marketing campaigns.
  • Experience with emerging technologies, including AI tools and digital advertising technology, is preferred.

Base pay is just one component of the total employee compensation package offered by Warner Bros. Discovery. Pay Range: $401,240.00 – $745,160.00 Annual Salary. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. Additionally, Warner Bros.
