The Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity (GOEO) is seeking… Deputy Director To join our team! Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Deputy Director will have a direct impact in shaping the state’s economic development efforts, including overseeing and improving the day-to-day functions and strategic mission of the Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity (GOEO). This position will oversee external facing recruitment efforts. This includes supporting the state’s economic planning and investment efforts, tracking and analyzing economic development, coordinating with stakeholders, and improving efficiency and workflow within the agency. A critical component of this role will be proactive business development, focusing on growing relationships with key stakeholders, attracting investment, and securing public and private financing to expand the scope and impact of economic opportunity initiatives.

Main duties

• Overseeing daily efforts to implement the organization’s strategic mission

• Represent the CEO and the agency with internal and external stakeholders

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, private sector leaders, economic development organizations, and community partners.

• Monitor and analyze market trends, economic indicators, and competitor activities to guide business development strategies and identify emerging opportunities

• Negotiating and facilitating agreements with potential partners and investors, ensuring alignment with GOEO’s mission and goals.

• Review and evaluate organizational effectiveness, goal setting, strategic planning, etc., and make recommendations for improvement.

• Monitors agency or program budget including revenues, expenditures, budget projections, etc.

• Supervise and collaborate with GOEO staff

The ideal candidate

• Strong leadership and communication skills.

• Ability to multi-task and delegate at a high level.

• Strong private sector experience with a proven track record of success and operational excellence.

• Knowledge of business development and agency management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, communications strategies, human resource modeling, leadership techniques, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.

• Identify complex problems and review relevant information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
