Role Overview:
As a Data Scientist within the Office of the CTO within McAfee’s Dynamic Threat Defense group, you will play a vital role in providing our customers with cutting-edge protection and peace of mind.

You’ll use your LLM (Large Language Model) and generative AI expertise to identify new application opportunities across the personal security space, as well as improve McAfee’s threat protection capabilities. Utilize your data visualization and storytelling skills to present your research to audience members ranging from fellow data scientists to senior executives.

This position is based in Ireland in either Dublin or Cork. We are only considering candidates who are within commuting distance to one of the two locations and are not offering transportation assistance at this time.

About the role:
• Apply subject matter expertise in traditional machine learning, LLM and generative AI in developing machine learning-driven solutions to protect the digital lives of our clients.
• Apply statistical and machine learning knowledge aimed at identifying opportunities to improve existing protection capabilities using supervised and unsupervised modeling techniques.
• Apply data wrangling skills towards data cleaning and building data pipelines through which modular monitoring dashboards and machine learning models can be implemented.
• Apply data mining and exploration skills to raw and clean data in a variety of formats to uncover insights for data-driven decision making
• Work with stakeholders across the organization to identify opportunities that use big data from many different sources.
• Use data visualization techniques and narrative skills to convey research findings in a meaningful way with data-supported recommendations.
• Own data science projects of varying scope from concept to delivery with a focus on delivering a solution to address the original problem statement for success.

About you:
• I have worked with and understood LLMs (Large Language Models) and Generative AI.
• You have 5-7 years of experience building high-quality machine learning models.
• Experience in refining LLMs and classification is a basic requirement.
• You must have a master’s or doctoral degree in statistics, data science, computer science, or another quantitative field.
• You have extensive experience with Python, PySpark, R, SQL, and cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, and Databricks.
• Self-motivated and comfortable working remotely in collaboration with an international team.
• You have strong problem-solving skills that can be applied to data processing, exploratory data analysis, data visualization, model development, model scaling, model deployment, and model monitoring.
