Imagine that you are Data Science Manager At Clio, the legal software company that aims to revolutionize the legal experience for everyone.
Reporting to the Senior Director and Head of Data and Analytics, you will be responsible for building predictive and prescriptive solutions to enhance Clio’s operations in marketing, sales, after-sales and product development.
In this role, you will partner with senior business leaders across the go-to-market and product teams to identify opportunities for data-driven predictive and prescriptive solutions. You will lead the development of advanced analytics and machine learning solutions for revenue forecasting, upsell and cross-sell propensity modeling, price optimization, and sentiment analysis, to name a few, and create best practices for building modular, reusable assets, to enable robust, accurate and timely analytics. You will guide data science teams and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to practically deploy these solutions and achieve business impact.
Your mission is to build a data science center of excellence, partnering with senior leaders across Clio to make timely, reliable, effective data-driven decisions!
What you will work on:
- Define and implement Clio’s data science strategy that aligns with Clio’s business goals, including revenue growth, customer retention, and operational efficiency.
- Create an impact-based priority framework and comprehensive data science roadmap, with clear business cases for all initiatives
- Lead, manage, direct and grow a team of data scientists, and develop clear technical and professional development plans
- Foster strong collaboration across the data and analytics organization, including data modeling, business intelligence, data engineering, and operations analysis teams
- Partner with product teams to embed predictive and prescriptive analytics to improve customer experience and product adoption
- Be an active participant and contributor to the Business Operations Leadership Team and the Extended Leadership Team (made up of Director+ Senior Leaders)
- Extending existing data science models to analyze customer behavior and predict their needs, interests and readiness, enabling go-to-market teams to design their strategies
- Deploy machine learning models in production, ensuring scalability, reliability and continuous monitoring of their performance
- Stay up to date on the latest developments in AI, establish Clio as a leader in reusable data and analytics solutions, and actively implement and contribute to industry best practices
- Serve as a strategic voice and partner to senior leaders and executives, including educating the business on best practices and path to implementing repeatable analytics and reporting
About you:
- Graduate degree in computer science, engineering, statistics, or related field.
- 10+ years of extensive experience building and scaling a data science function in a high growth environment
- 10+ years of extensive experience managing data management, analytics, and engineering teams with 10+ direct and indirect reports
- Over 15 years of extensive hands-on experience with a wide range of data science and machine learning techniques, including classification, regression, time series forecasting, natural language processing, and unsupervised learning
- Experience preparing and presenting reports to senior business stakeholders
- Experience leading go-to-market initiatives and partnering with product development teams
- Experience putting data science solutions into production and maintaining them
- Strong storytelling skills with the ability to coach and teach best practices and explain technical analyzes to non-technical audiences
Bonus points for:
- High level of business acumen obtained through professional experience or certifications MBA, CFA, PMM
- Experience in the SaaS or legal industry
- Experience working with unstructured data and graph data structures

The full salary range* for this role is $240,700 to $300,800 to $360,900. Please note that there is a separate band for those in the San Francisco/Bay area. For those outside the US, there is a separate set of salary ranges for other regions. Additionally, this role is eligible for variable pay based on company performance, with actual pay amounts calculated and paid on a quarterly basis.
*We aim to hire all candidates between the low end and midpoint of the full salary range. We reserve the midpoint to the high end of the salary range for internal employees who demonstrate high performance and sustained impact at Clio. The final offer amount for this role will depend on the individual experience and skill set of the candidate.
