Your turn:

The Cyber ​​Security Specialist provides support for a range of security services to our clients around the world. This position responds to security threats and vulnerabilities, meets security requests, and escalates network and system anomalies in alignment with operational objectives.

Your responsibilities:

  • Providing first level support for security incidents and requests by monitoring alerts, owning and managing security incidents until they are resolved and security requests are resolved.
  • Monitor network and system alerts, own and manage network and system tickets until handover to a member of the Operations/DevOps team
  • At all times adhere to the separation of duties between your role as a member of the security team who monitors the activities of privileged users, and the privileged network and operations/DevOps team members who use their privileges to resolve incidents and fulfill requests in the production environment
  • Providing high-quality customer service, including interacting with Global Relay employees, answering internal Global Relay inquiries, and escalating as necessary
  • Recording and classifying incidents and incoming service requests
  • Make an immediate effort to address security issues in a timely manner
  • Make an immediate effort to escalate network and system issues in a timely manner
  • Analyze events, incidents and security issues to provide recommendations for action
  • Update employees and customers on the status of incidents and service requests at agreed upon time intervals
  • Escalate incidents and service requests to appropriate resources
  • Execute time-sensitive operational tasks as specified in the task list
  • Create scheduled and ad-hoc reports using specific tools such as MS Office and specialized applications
  • Training new employees
  • Perform other security-related system administration duties as needed

About you:

  • Knowledge of Internet and network technologies; Specifically, TCP/IP, UDP, SMTP, HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, SFTP, and FTPS; Internet and other networking technologies are an asset
  • Strong understanding and exposure to security tools such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, anti-virus, anti-spam, server and network hardening
  • Ability to write and modify scripts and/or programs in different languages, such as Python and PowerShell
  • Working knowledge of security incidents and event management systems such as Splunk
  • Proven proficiency in using MS Office and other desktop applications
  • Previous experience in maintaining and troubleshooting daily operational processes, such as generating reports, verifying data, and data correlation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Extreme attention to detail and follow-up
  • Ability to follow processes, multi-task and excel in a fast-paced environment
  • Passion for customer satisfaction and responsiveness
  • Systematic and creative approach to problem solving
  • Recognized security industry certifications, such as CompTIA Security+

compensation:

Global Relay advertises the pay range for this role in accordance with BC pay transparency laws. Individual pay rates are determined by evaluating factors such as experience, skills, education and professional background.

The range below reflects expected annual base salary, which is just one element of our comprehensive total rewards package designed to reflect the pay philosophy, culture and values ​​of our company. British Columbia – Base Salary Range

$60,000 – $75,000 CAD
