Assistant/Associate Professor – Accounting at Doha University of Science and Technology

The College of Business announces the opening of applications for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor in Accounting.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Head of Department, the successful candidate will be responsible for the development, delivery and evaluation of a wide range of courses in accounting. S/he will evaluate student progress and manage learning environment resources. The successful candidate will network with industry and other educational institutions; Participate in industry advisory committees and coordinate, manage and monitor projects within the specified program area. Faculty will maintain course portfolio documentation required for accreditation processes and participate in instructional development/improvement plans. All employees are expected to contribute to professional and community life within and outside the College.
Qualifications
Education and experience requirements
Faculty will be placed in the appropriate grade based on their education and experience. The general standards are given below.
education
PhD and Master’s degree in Accounting or related field from an internationally recognized university with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
expertise
- Ideally, at least 3 years of teaching experience in a post-secondary, adult training or industrial training setting, plus preferably 3 years of work experience as an accountant or in a related field.
- An outstanding research record and international reputation demonstrated by high-quality publications in leading journals.
- Excellent record of supervising high caliber research students.
- Demonstrated leadership in building engagement and partnerships within the profession and industry.
Preferred qualifications
- Professional certifications (such as CMA, CPA, or ACCA)
- A diploma in education (such as post-secondary education, adult education, or vocational education) is preferred.
- Ideally, 6+ years of work experience as a practitioner/professional in the relevant discipline.
- Experience teaching in a post-secondary, adult training, or industrial training setting.
- Experience in leadership and innovation in technology-based projects.
- Proficiency in using Power BI: Demonstrate experience in using Power BI to extract, transform, and visualize data from various sources. Able to create interactive dashboards, reports, and data models to provide actionable insights.
For the associate professor
expertise
- Ideally, at least 8 years of teaching experience in a post-secondary, adult training or industrial training setting, plus 3 years of work experience as an accountant or in a related field.
- An outstanding research record and international reputation demonstrated by high-quality publications in leading journals.
- Excellent record of supervising high caliber research students.
- Demonstrated leadership in building engagement and partnerships with the profession and industry.
- Proficiency in using Power BI: Demonstrate experience in using Power BI to extract, transform, and visualize data from various sources. Able to create interactive dashboards, reports, and data models to provide actionable insights.
Preferred qualifications
- Professional certifications (such as CMA, CPA, or ACCA).
- A diploma in education (such as post-secondary education, adult education, or vocational education) is preferred.
- Ideally, 10+ years of work experience as a practitioner/professional in the relevant discipline.
- Experience teaching in a post-secondary, adult training, or industrial training setting.
- Experience in leadership and innovation in technology-based projects.
Other skills required:
- A commitment to applied and experiential learning as a teaching method is a key feature of the UDST mandate.
- Ability to design, develop, deliver and evaluate authentic learning experiences and assessments. These should include contemporary tools and resources to maximize content learning in context, and develop the knowledge, skills, competencies and attitudes identified in the program outcomes.
- Digital literacy and demonstrated fluency in technology systems, and the ability to design and facilitate the use of existing and emerging digital tools to support research and learning.
- Demonstrate the ability to develop technology-rich learning environments that enable students to be active participants in their learning.
- Commitment to the effectiveness, vitality and renewal of the teaching profession through continuous professional development and lifelong learning.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- A spirit of cooperation and collegiality and a demonstrated ability to establish rapport with learners, colleagues, sponsoring employers and community members.
- Ability to initiate applied research projects.
