About the role

Located in San Jose, CA or Hillsboro, OR, the Applications Engineer will provide customer support and operations solutions to optimize and use Canon products at the customer site. This is an exciting opportunity for candidates with lithography, metrology, software, and/or modeling capabilities and who enjoy the technical challenge of working with equipment, processes, and customers. You will work at various customer sites to support the integration and ongoing operation of our semiconductor equipment.

  • Optimize and track semiconductor lithography process and equipment in the field
  • Respond to problems in the field regarding equipment or customer operations and communicate with local and international design teams to arrive at a successful solution.
  • Analyze data, identify causes and provide solutions with other application engineers as well as the field service team.
  • Discussing and negotiating with customers about semiconductor product specifications and test implementation and methods.
  • Work with customers to improve product performance using analytical and problem-solving skills

About you: The skills and experience you bring

  • A bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline plus 3-5 years of relevant experience or a master’s degree in the field is required.
  • Bilingual communication skills (Japanese/English) are a plus
  • Experience in semiconductor processes especially lithography systems.
  • Experience with relevant semiconductor equipment such as SEMs or measurement systems.
  • Strong understanding of data structures and data analysis.
  • Strong problem-solving experience and skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Overnight travel required. Will require travel (select domestic and/or international) depending on business needs
  • Requires up to 75% overnight travel. It is necessary to have a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record. Additionally, since this position requires driving company business as an essential function of the job, the applicant must remain in compliance with company safety guidelines and policies.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Constant attention to detail
  • Knowledge of semiconductor automation system in SEMI SECS/GEM is a plus
  • Computer Linux, UNIX and scripting languages ​​such as SQL are a plus
  • Speaking/reading Japanese is a plus
  • Microsoft applications (PowerPoint, Word, Basic Excel) and any other database knowledge skills are a plus.
  • Requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds individually and assistance may be available to lift over 50 pounds.
  • A great deal of standing, walking, writing, grasping, speaking and hearing.
  • It requires a certain amount of driving, sometimes for several hours at a time.
  • Occasionally, kneeling, bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and climbing stairs
  • The worker must have near visual acuity with or without corrective lenses for intense reading; Visual inspection involving mechanical/electrical parts, small parts, and/or machinery operation (including inspection); Using measuring devices. And/or assembling or manufacturing parts close to the eyes.
  • Laboratory work may require wearing gloves and safety glasses.
  • The work environment may include a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, exposure to chemicals, lasers, close quarters, or narrow aisles or aisles.
  • The work environment may involve working in situations that are highly time sensitive and require quick solutions.

We offer an expected salary range for this role of $76,150 – $114,040
