Undergraduate Position: Full-time Assistant Professor of Biology: Immunology (non-tenured), Tufts University
The Department of Biology at Tufts University is seeking a full-time, non-tenure-track faculty member beginning September 1, 2026. The Assistant Teaching Professor’s responsibilities will include organizing and teaching an introductory lecture course in immunology, co-teaching a microbiology laboratory course, and developing and teaching one or two courses commensurate with the candidate’s experience. These activities may include a cell biology laboratory, a course-based Undergraduate Research Experience (CURE) laboratory class, and/or an additional lecture course. Applicants from all areas of immunology—spanning the molecular, cellular, organismal, population, and ecosystem levels (including systems, computational/quantitative, evolutionary, and ecological immunology)—are encouraged to apply and suggest courses that reflect this breadth.. Responsibilities will also include undergraduate advising and departmental service.

Qualifications
Eligible candidates must have a PhD in immunology, infectious diseases, or microbiology, which is defined broadly across biological metrics. Candidates must demonstrate successful teaching of undergraduate biology lectures and laboratory courses. The successful candidate must demonstrate experience and/or invested interest in evidence-based, student-centered pedagogical techniques and inclusive classroom development. They must clearly describe how they will use effective teaching and mentoring to promote the success and career advancement of Tufts undergraduate students.
This is an academic year, benefiting from a two-year position that is renewable contingent on performance (adjunct professors at Tufts are unionized), with the potential for long-term tenure with promotional advancement within the rank of teaching professor.
