Research Fellow (Environmental and Health Sciences), Nanyang Technological University
In this rapidly changing world, the Center for Climate Change and Environmental Health (CCEH) is playing a leading role in combating climate-related health challenges. We join forces with global experts from diverse fields to uncover how climate change impacts human health. With a focus on Southeast Asia, CCECH’s work is not just about research, it is also about creating a healthier and more resilient future for Singapore and the world. We collaborate with leading institutes at NTU to transform ideas into actionable, evidence-based solutions.
Within CCEH, the Environmental Health Team, led by Professor Steve Yim, investigates the complex interactions between climate, air quality and environmental health. The group develops, develops and applies state-of-the-art multi-scale atmospheric models, combined with cutting-edge measurements and statistical approaches, to uncover the mechanisms that drive interactions between climate and air quality and assess their impacts on human health and ecosystems.
Key areas of research include studying the air quality impacts of sectoral emissions and transboundary air pollution across multiple spatial scales, exploring regional climate change caused by land use shifts and global climate change, and measuring the health impacts of air pollution on respiratory and cardiovascular diseases. The group also evaluates emissions control and mitigation scenarios to provide science-based policy recommendations for a sustainable environment and healthier populations today and in the future.
Key Responsibilities:
The position will be responsible for implementing sensitivity calculations of air pollutants to emission sources in a global air quality model, developing climate projections and downscaling models, applying the developed model to different climate change and emissions scenarios, and analyzing model results for various air pollutants and their health burdens under climate change. The job must document the results of the four tasks in reports and publish research papers in international peer-reviewed journals.
Job Requirements:
-
Get a Ph.D. Degree in Atmospheric Science/Geography/Meteorology/Environment, or equivalent field.
-
They have experience in developing global air quality and climate models.
-
Evidence of excellent writing and communication skills, evidence of independence in research direction and team spirit.
-
A candidate with recent publications in relevant fields within the last five years is advantageous.
CCEH seeks a diverse and inclusive workforce and is committed to equal opportunity.
