Postgraduate Research Assistant at the University of Oxford
Location: RDM Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, OX3 9DU
We are looking for a highly motivated Graduate Research Assistant with experience and interest in cardiovascular medicine to join Shannon’s research group. You will be based in the British Heart Foundation’s laboratories at the Center for Human Genetics, a state-of-the-art research facility located on the University’s Old Road campus.
Together with a postdoctoral research fellow, the position holder will investigate the role of novel candidate genes in cardiovascular diseases using in vitro cell-based models and molecular and biochemical techniques. Your responsibilities will include establishing, maintaining, and characterizing primary and immortalized cell cultures, as well as daily laboratory maintenance, including setting up equipment and reordering laboratory supplies.
The post holder is required to hold a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology, or natural sciences), and will collect, analyze and present qualitative and/or quantitative data from a variety of sources and contribute to wider project planning. You will have recent experience in PCR, qRT-PCR, cell culture, proteomic analysis and an aptitude for working with tissues generated from in vivo models.
This is a full-time appointment on a fixed-term contract until 2029.
