Road Sage Games Looking for a freelance VFX Artist to create ability effects for our upcoming PC/Web strategy game The sun never sets.

Vision for visual effects

Your primary role is to bring the power of the game "Guiding spirit" Life capabilities. We are not looking for realistic fires and explosions. The goal is an ethereal, conceptual style where you imagine the concept of power – think Einstein’s warping of spacetime or Lincoln’s abolition of slavery.

The game is clean, "Digital Desktop" aesthetic. Effects should be impressive and clear without creating visual noise.

• Style: ethereal, conceptual, light, allegories, screen distortion.
• Platform: Unity, with performance and asset size targets for web browsers.

Initial contract and scope

• The first paid milestones will be 3 distinct ability effects Based on the concepts and icons provided.
• If we’re a good fit, there’s a lot of work to follow. We expect to need approximately 100 effects for the full game.

You are very suitable if you are

• Get a powerful set of visual effects created in Unity
• Can work from 2D concepts and written descriptions to build a cohesive visual style
• Be a clear, independent, reliable communicator
• You have a passion for strategy games (4X, grand strategy, board games)

We are open to hourly or fixed payments. Prices are negotiable based on your experience.

Its spherical maps, towering cities, and massive armies create a sense of scale like no other. The game’s economic system focuses on empire-level decisions on micromanagement, while competing spirits bring big personalities and unique strategies to each game.
