Position Summary:
the Operations specialist He is a key team member responsible for supporting SEIU Wisconsin’s mission of building strength for workers by ensuring the effective operation of union systems, offices, and programs. Under the supervision of the Director of Operations and Staffing, the Operations Specialist works across departments to provide operational, logistical, and clerical support. This role also plays an important role in supporting members and ensuring the operational success of union programs, such as events, union leave programs, and compliance processes.
The Operations Specialist works collaboratively with other managers, including the Political Director, to ensure operational efforts are aligned with Federation-wide goals and values.

Madison or Milwaukee, Wisconsin. With occasional travel to other offices (Racine, Milwaukee, Madison, La Crosse) and events.
Key Responsibilities:
Member support
- Serves as the first point of contact for members who communicate by phone, email, or in person through the SEIU Wisconsin offices.
- Provide timely responses to member inquiries, ensure warm handover to appropriate staff and maintain effective follow-up.
Office management
- Manage office operations across all SEIU Wisconsin offices, including maintenance of supplies, facilities and overall office systems.
- Support general office administration needs to ensure smooth daily operations and member satisfaction.
- Coordinate with the Racine Office Building Committee and member leaders to support effective property management for the Racine office.
Supporting union programs
- Provide operational support for union leave programs, including onboarding and return-to-work processes for members.
- Ensure accurate payroll processing, compliance, and record keeping for union leave programs, such as the Member Political Organizer Program, Member Contract Brigade, and Member Organizer Program.
- Assist with logistics and planning for union events, including ordering supplies, coordinating travel, and designing events that prioritize a positive member experience.
- Maintain and develop scalable operations systems for payroll, vacation/vacation tracking, expense reporting, and other processes to support union growth.
Collaboration and support between teams
- Collaborate with organizational, policy and other teams to provide seamless operational support for campaigns, events and programmes.
- Work with the Political Director and other managers to support the operational needs of the Wisconsin SEIU State Council, including compliance and logistical support for the union’s political programs.
- Providing logistical and operational support for member-led campaigns and activities.
Developing member leaders
- Build relationships with member leaders on the Executive Council and participants in union leave programs to support their development and operational needs.
- Collaborate with member leaders of the Racine Office Building Committee to ensure effective management of the Racine office property.
Qualifications:
Required qualifications
- Strong dedication to labor and social justice movements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Experience working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in technology, including Microsoft Office Suite and database systems.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with database systems (e.g. EMMA) and member support workflows.
- – Familiarity with payroll, compliance and accounting processes.
- Knowledge of scalable operations systems such as expense tracking and leave management.
- Event planning and logistics expertise, with a focus on enhancing the member experience.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.

Salary and benefits
- Starting salary: $53,068.18 per year to $63,910.01 per year based on experience.
- Benefits include employer-paid premiums for health, dental, vision and life insurance, employer contribution to an excellent defined-benefit pension plan, generous paid time off, paid holidays, and paid sick time as defined in the employee collective bargaining agreement.
