Responsibilities:

• Operate specialized machinery in sensitive locations and achieve professional results.
• Ensure all machinery is maintained in the best possible condition
• Organizing periodic servicing of machines and performing maintenance in accordance with manufacturers’ recommendations.
• Transportation and assistance in organizing the transportation of machinery to and from sites.
• Habitat management to ensure conservation goals are met.
• Maintain machines to ensure they operate safely and efficiently, according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.
• Maintain high standards of health and safety to minimize risks to the RSPB and to ensure health and safety is understood and complied with while carrying out duties.
• General administration, record keeping and report writing associated with all of the above to ensure management and reports are updated and systematically organized.

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:

• GCSE Maths and English or equivalent.
• Operates, diagnoses and maintains agricultural machinery, including specialized wetland equipment, tractors, ATVs and excavators.
• Maintain, repair and use machinery, tools, equipment and infrastructure.
• Microsoft Office packages including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Solve problems and arrive at thoughtful solutions through practical solutions.
• Working without supervision for long periods.
• Communicate orally with a wide range of audiences.
• Manage yourself and others to set priorities and work to an agreed plan.
• Practical experience in land management and providing real estate management work.

Desirable skills, knowledge and experience:

• Lantra or equivalent qualifications in ATV, chainsaw, tractor driving and excavator operations.
• Implement and update health and safety records and assessments.

Additional information:

This is a full time permanent role with 37.5 hours per week.
