Lecturer in Forensic Science at the University of Kent

Are you passionate about forensic science teaching and research? Would you like to collaborate to deliver and contribute to high quality student-led teaching? If so, this is the role for you.

The College of Natural Sciences is seeking an exceptional Lecturer to join its academic team. The role will also be responsible for administrative and support activities, working collaboratively to achieve the goals of the school and university. The successful applicant will provide an innovative and engaging education to students in programs in the School of Natural Sciences, alongside research in forensic sciences. A passion for contributing to the ongoing development and enhancement of our teaching portfolio will also be an advantage. We particularly welcome applicants with ballistics backgrounds but strongly encourage those with experience in other areas of forensic science to apply as well.

The role is offered under an Education and Research (E&R) contract, and is suitable for candidates who have a strong research track record and trajectory, contribute high quality output in the relevant field, and are able to enhance the University’s research profile in the subject area.

As a lecturer in forensic science, you can expect to participate in:

  • Deliver and contribute to the design of high-quality, demand-based, student-centered instruction in a variety of settings, including developing specific teaching and learning support materials, methods and methods to meet learning objectives and program requirements.
  • Assess students’ work, monitor progress and provide feedback and guidance.
  • Undertake an independent research programme, including supervision of research staff and students, contributing to the University of Kent’s overall research strategy.

What will you bring to the role?

  • Doctorate in Forensic Science, or equivalent experience/qualification
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education-
  • Experience of developing and delivering university teaching and assessment in a higher education setting
  • An established record of international excellence in research commensurate with career stage and experience in producing high-quality research outputs
