About the service

The Economic Directorate is looking for ten Dynamic individuals to join the Council’s Waste Education and Enforcement team to improve the quality of the local environment and achieve a high level of customer service.

About the job

You will work closely with your team members and residents and guide operating staff to meet our waste and litter enforcement obligations, as well as waste and recycling education.

You will have a focus on customer service, getting things done, taking personal responsibility for completing tasks and projects, promoting key messages and delivering campaigns/work days as well as waste and litter enforcement. Activities will include educating residents, businesses, visitors and stakeholders on waste storage and display and providing specialist knowledge and expertise in litter, waste and environmental legislation. You will also be required to issue fixed penalty notices for littering and soiling with dogs and pursue prosecutions before the court for waste and litter related offences.

What we are looking for from you

As an individual, you would perform equally well in an office environment as well as an operational environment or out on the street scavenging waste and educating residents.

You will also have good communication and interpersonal skills which will enable you to engage effectively with a wide range of staff and stakeholders in order to achieve the Council’s objectives.
