How long is it acceptable to be unemployed? Just started a full time job as a fixed agent for $17.50 after coming from a 3 year fintech contract at $24.50
ngl, There are days when it’s hard to envision the same future I did when I was working at a tech company at the end of August. Part of me is telling me to focus on saving money and paying my bills alongside my girl and our roommate — but there’s a painful feeling of knowing that I can’t let my career slip through my fingers like sand. I mean, could I fall in love with horses and make that my career? Sure, but I’m 31 and I try to be realistic while shooting as well to have a guiding light that can give me back the control I once had. @My old job, I used to work remotely with a lot of freedom to choose how and when I worked, and this has been going on for about 3 years, so moving to a fake castle to take care of cute horses is a bit awkward. Hell, at least with this job, I’ll get the full benefits and can put myself back out there and be around people/touch grass. I don’t know, I had to question why I wanted to be in tech in the first place besides computers being something I’m good at, but then again, I’m not exactly a full-fledged developer and mostly worked creating AI-assisted automation scripts and moderating content for the startup I was at. So, yeah, how long do you think it’s okay to stay in this position? I try to swallow my pride, but it’s hard when I expect so much from myself. I’ve submitted hundreds of applications and am getting callbacks for some tech-oriented jobs like state work – but it’s a matter of whether or not I’ll actually get a job after those interviews, and I don’t want to distract from the fact that all I really need to be happy is a little money saved up and some fun with my lady + enough to pay my bills. I know I used to work in technology but I would rather have an old video game store that doubles as a cat retreat. Sorry for the rant, obviously I just need some pep to talk to and connect with as well as some advice. If this type of post is not allowed, please point me in the right direction. Attaching my CV in case you are interested in my history Thanks gang Submitted by /u/kikimochaluna |
