HRTC has issued tenders to procure 297 electric buses for Rs 412 crore and charging stations are also being set up at bus stops at a cost of Rs 124 crore. In addition to the purchase of these e-buses, another 500 e-buses will be purchased in the fiscal year 2025-2026. He said that this measure taken by the government has proven useful in protecting and preserving environmental resources, in addition to reducing air pollution.
The Prime Minister said the startup Rajiv Gandhi Swarugar Yojana has proven to be a boon for the unemployed youth of the state, as 50 per cent subsidy has been provided for purchase of e-taxis. These e-taxis have also been linked to various government departments, companies, councils and other institutions. Under the e-taxi system, about 50 e-taxis have been linked to government departments so far.
So far, nearly Rs 4.22 lakh crore has been disbursed to 59 eligible youth, and support will be launched for 61 more beneficiaries soon.
The Prime Minister said that this will not only provide lucrative employment opportunities to the youth but will also ensure an assured income for five years by placing them in government offices and with a two-year extension condition.
He stated that six green corridors are currently being constructed in the state, and 41 additional charging stations will soon be established along these corridors. The present government has provided 100 per cent exemption from road tax and 50 per cent exemption from private road tax on registration of e-commercial vehicles. He pointed out that in order to protect the environment, all petrol and diesel rickshaws operating in the state have been replaced with e-rickshaws.
He stated that to provide self-employment opportunities for youth, the government is also issuing new permits for 1,000 bus routes to the private sector, in addition to a subsidy of up to 40 percent on e-buses and express passengers on specific routes.
