Full-time Assistant Professor position in Electrical Engineering, University of Alabama in Huntsville
Job Description/Requirements: The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Electrical Engineering. We welcome applications in all areas of electrical engineering. This year we are particularly seeking researchers in (1) integrated devices and systems (advanced semiconductor devices, analog/mixed/digital circuits); (2) communications, signal processing and control (wireless communications and statistical/machine learning signal processing, estimation and control); (3) Cyber-physical and autonomous systems (embedded/temporal systems, robotics and autonomy, verification and safety). Candidates must have a doctoral degree. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field by the start date. The successful candidate will demonstrate (a) the potential to undertake scientific activities supported by externally funded contracts and grants; (b) Commitment to teaching and developing new courses and mentoring students; and (c) desire for university and professional service.
About the department: The department offers Bachelor of Science (BS) degrees in Electrical, Computer Engineering and Cybersecurity, Master of Science (MS) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering, and interdisciplinary Master’s degrees in Software Engineering and Cybersecurity. Our faculty currently consists of 20 tenure-track/tenure-track members and 3 full-time lecturers. Our student body includes approximately 640 undergraduate students and 160 graduate students. Faculty research interests include electronic devices, applied electromagnetics and optics, signal and image processing, Internet of Things (IoT), computer systems, cybersecurity, software engineering, and quantum systems. The Department is involved in a wide range of research activities currently funded by NSF, DOD, NASA, DOE, NSA, Redstone Arsenal, the State of Alabama, and several corporate sponsors.
About the college: The Faculty of Engineering consists of five departments and has the largest number of six academic faculties in the university. The college’s research focus includes three of the many major problems faced by the National Academy of Engineering (NAE) – secure cyberspace; Restoring and improving urban infrastructure; Engineering tools for scientific discovery. Our Aviation 2032 Strategic Plan seeks to promote student-centered teaching and learning focused on student success, promote basic and applied research, while engaging the local and regional community through outreach and workforce development.
