This exciting new role will coordinate a unique community-led environmental initiative along Cod Beck, from its source in Osmotherley to its confluence with the River Swale. The project aims to build a robust environmental dataset and identify future sites for improved biodiversity and water quality interventions.

The role will work across the local community, leveraging support from volunteers, local naturalists, schools and partner agencies to deliver citizen science activities, support environmental scanning and enhance management of the Cod Peak Corridor.

You will coordinate consultants, manage timelines, liaise with stakeholders and ensure local voices and values ​​are reflected in the delivery and legacy of the work. This publication focuses on delivery, laying the foundations for a larger, future offering of the Heritage Lottery Fund and long-term environmental work.

Friends of Cod Beck is passionate about improving and protecting Cod Beck, while inspiring the community to build a stronger, greener, healthier place to live and visit. Cod Peak is more than just a stream; It is the lifeline of local biodiversity and a thread that connects multiple communities. But data on its ecological status is incomplete, and opportunities for local participation in its conservation have been limited.

This role helps fill this gap. The post holder is expected to put local people at the heart of environmental monitoring and enable the community to take a more active role in protecting and restoring the places they care about. By connecting people to nature, we also promote wellbeing, identity and shared purpose, which is why Community Works is delighted to partner with the Friends of Cod Beck on this project.
