Director of Translational Research at the University of Oxford
location: Office for Translational Research, Boundary Brook House, Old Campus Road, Oxford OX3 7BG

The Department of Medical Sciences’ Translational Research Office (TRO) provides oversight and provides departmental support for translational research projects. The TRO’s mission is to identify new transitional projects that address unmet medical needs, to advance the development of project plans and to secure additional follow-on funding. The TRO is recruiting for a Translational Research Director to encourage and maintain a range of biomedical translation opportunities.
Candidates will be confident self-starters with a broad understanding of research, translation and innovation processes in the biomedical and healthcare sectors. With experience in research project management, the postholder will work under the leadership of the Head of the Office of Translational Research to identify and advise on appropriate funding sources, support bid development and provide project management for these projects that achieve milestones. They will support the delivery of existing translational research programs such as the Oxford Medical and Life Sciences Translation Fund, as well as the launch of new programmes.
In this varied and interesting role, you will engage with a wide range of stakeholders including the Oxford research community, Oxford University Innovations, public funding bodies, industry partners, the Biomedical Research Center and other relevant groups.

We support hybrid working although an element of on-site presence is a requirement of the role.
This position is full time (although part time will be considered with a minimum of 0.8 FTE) and is for a fixed term of up to 12 months (covering maternity leave) ending on 31 January 2027.
