As a business strategist, you will produce reports, business plans and project plans. You will also conduct strategic and operational reporting that keeps community and citizen needs at the forefront. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering and managing a variety of high-level projects that often lead to business or service improvements. Essential duties include:

- Lead targeted, cross-company project teams to deliver new initiatives or advance the Board’s strategic goals and directions.
- Conduct business research and analysis using qualitative and quantitative methods to: evaluate service data and delivery, identify gaps and process changes, and develop bylaw amendments and policy recommendations for senior city management and council.
- Develop policies, guidelines and recommendations to improve the efficiency, effectiveness and scope of services.
- Building and maintaining relationships, participating in committees, and contributing to community initiatives.
- Manage knowledge-based projects from inception through development and delivery, often culminating in presentations and reports to senior management and the board.
Qualifications
- Degree in business, public administration, planning, political science, law, or related field with at least 5 years of relevant experience in policy and program development, project management, and/or operational and strategic planning.
- Understanding of municipal administration and operational processes with knowledge in a variety of long-range planning activities such as finance, policy analysis and business planning.
- Experience in the homeless service sector will be considered an asset.
- Experience in report writing, presentations to executives, project management, budgeting and reporting will be considered an asset.
- Advanced research, analytical and problem-solving skills, business and political acumen.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills with the ability to influence others and build consensus.

- This position may qualify as work-from-home at least part-time as one of many flexible work options available to city employees. These arrangements are based on the operational requirements of the job and employee suitability and are subject to change based on operational needs and company directives.

compensation: Grade 14 paid $51.84 – $69.28 per hour
working hours: Standard work is 35 hours per week
