An exciting opportunity to expand your horizons and learn skills in a successful environment.

The College of Engineering and Physical Sciences is looking for an Administrator to join the College Operations Service. Based at the Optoelectronics Research Center (ORC), you will make an important contribution to the day-to-day running of ORC, supporting senior faculty and our research community. ORC is a research intensive school with a dynamic and exciting working environment, and we have a world-leading reputation in photonics and optoelectronics.

Successful applicants will be experienced, motivated, enthusiastic and proactive people who are culturally sensitive and able to work effectively in a flexible and collaborative environment. This position is permanent and full time (36 hours per week).

As a member of our busy administrative team, you will provide a professional and efficient service including operational assistance and administrative support to the academic community, event organisation, financial management, organizing and recording meetings and requesting resources. To be successful in this role, you will:

  • You have the ability to build effective and credible working relationships and communicate confidently with your stakeholders
  • Be adaptable, flexible, proactive and a team player with strong interpersonal skills and a positive and enthusiastic approach.
  • Have excellent time management and organizational skills and the ability to effectively manage your workload to meet business demands
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as up-to-date MS Office skills

This role would suit either an enthusiastic professional with relevant work experience looking for career development or a recent graduate with some experience looking for the opportunity to explore career opportunities within a higher education environment.
