Role: Senior Engineer

The role

Yield Solutions Group (YSG) is looking for a Key Contributor to fill a position on our development team as a Senior Engineer. We want someone with strong beliefs and experience tempered by an open mind and collaborative personality to complement our existing team in continually growing and improving our development and delivery practices. We are currently improving an enterprise application that supports our auto refinancing business, built on a Java microservices architecture with a React front-end, and are looking forward to adding new lines of business.

The successful candidate will be an engaged and supportive teammate, demonstrate exceptional technical acumen, value XP practices, doggedly track down root issues, and implement robust solutions spanning the entire application stack. You should feel comfortable mentoring other developers, navigating the complexities of our microservices architecture, and actively participating in cross-disciplinary discussions and decisions about business goals and outcomes, and the development processes to achieve them. Finally, we expect you to advocate for and promote technical and process improvements as our implementation patterns continue to grow and evolve.

Responsibilities

Contribute to all stages of development – story optimization, design, planning, development, quality assurance and maintenance.

Write well-designed, testable, and efficient code.

Producing reusable/maintainable/safe/effective solutions.

Mentor mid-level and entry-level developers

Troubleshoot the application, identify the problem and solve it.

requirements

7+ years of software development/software engineering experience

Java 11+ or other OOP language

Spring Boot 2 or other web framework

Experience in relational database design (RDD)

Experience working with microservices.

AWS or other cloud provider (GCP, Azure, etc.)

Experience working with Linux/Unix

Nice to have

Distributed systems experience

Serverless jobs

Messaging platforms like Kafka or SQS/SNS

Design using document-driven data warehouses and SQL/NoSQL decisions

Practical experience in decomposing monolithic architecture into microservices.

Integration with legacy 3rd party APIs using XML/SOAP

Interactive programming

Functional languages

Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.) and GitOps
