Lecturers in Information Studies (Digital Humanities) (R&T) at the University of Glasgow

The University of Glasgow is seeking to appoint two open lectureships in Digital Humanities. These appointments will support the delivery of our exciting new postgraduate program in Digital Humanities. The scholarships will be based on information studies within the Faculty of Humanities and will contribute to other programs within the field (covering library, archive and museum studies, as well as digital humanities).

We welcome candidates with strong research experience in the digital humanities and a commitment to innovative graduate teaching. The successful applicant will contribute to curriculum development, teaching delivery, and the continued growth of our digital humanities provision within Information Studies and in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities more broadly.

Glasgow’s Faculty of Arts and Humanities has an established reputation for excellence in teaching and postgraduate research in the digital humanities. Our new Digital Humanities program builds on this strength, offering students the opportunity to develop expertise at the intersection of humanities scholarship and digital methods. The program provides students with theoretical understanding and practical skills in computational methods for cultural heritage, text analysis, data visualization, and digital archiving.

The scholarships will be based on the area of Information Studies, which is located within the Faculty of Humanities (Archaeology, Celtic and Gaelic, Classics, History, Information Studies, Philosophy). The Faculty of Arts and Humanities also includes the Schools of Modern Languages and Cultures, Critical Studies, and Culture and Creative Arts. There are strong links between the four schools, with scope for further development by appointed lecturers.

The university occupies a world-leading position in research and teaching in the arts and humanities. The successful applicant will conduct research on international excellence in digital humanities and will contribute to learning and teaching in the Digital Humanities PGT and other information studies programmes. They will also contribute to knowledge exchange activities related to their research and teaching and undertake administrative and service activities in line with the strategic objectives of the school.

We value diversity and particularly encourage applications from women, disabled people and ethnic minorities.

This engagement is full-time (35 hours per week) and open-ended.
