Governor Beshear provides an update on the Pre-K for All initiative

Gov. Andy Beshear gave an update to the Kentucky team Thursday, discussing where the Pre-K for All initiative stands. Beshear announced the campaign in May, aiming to boost public education and job growth across the state. Since launching the campaign, Beshear said there have been several town halls across the state where 90% of participants expressed support for more access and funding. According to Beshear’s office, more than 60,000 residents have written to their state lawmakers asking them to support expanding access to preschool. There was also support from government officials across the state. As of Thursday, 63 judges/county executives have expressed their support for the initiative. In addition, Beshear said 31 city mayors have written to the General Assembly asking them to support expanded access. Beshear also noted that the Kentucky Association of School Superintendents has officially endorsed the Pre-K for All campaign.
