Parks, Recreation and Community Service Department We are looking for an experienced leader to manage our parks planning and development team. This position will be responsible for directing all aspects of park acquisitions, planning, design, construction and development of the Saanich parks system.
You will apply your experience and strong project management skills to lead a diverse team of superintendents, professional landscapers and designers, technicians and building tradespeople. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring staff drive public engagement initiatives using IAP2 tools and technologies, as well as overseeing the department’s $4 million capital budget and leading project implementation planning to ensure projects are delivered effectively and on time.

The ideal candidate Must have a university degree in landscape architecture or a related field, as well as at least six years of relevant experience, including management and leadership in the planning, design, construction, and management of parks, trails, and open spaces. Experience working on projects within a government or municipal administration is an asset. Candidates must be a member or eligible for membership of the Planning Institute of British Columbia or the British Columbia Society of Landscape Architects. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. A valid BCClass 5 driving license and personal vehicle are also required.
This is an exempt position with an annual salary of $115,745 – $136,125An excellent benefits package and a generous pension plan.
