Responsible for leading and managing all academic support services for soccer student-athletes. This position provides oversight, direction, and accountability to ensure student-athletes achieve academic success, remain eligible according to NCAA, conference, and institutional standards, and make measurable progress toward graduation. The Director will serve as the primary academic liaison between the football program, faculty, advisors and the campus.

Basic responsibilities

Lead the football academic support team, including academic advisors, GA members, and teachers.

Coordination of the textbook grant program.

Facilitates classroom, teaching and mentoring programs specifically designed to meet the needs of football student-athletes

Help students understand university and degree requirements and develop a responsible approach to academic planning.

Maintain accurate academic records, develop statistical analysis of academic success or challenges and provide data as requested regarding the academic progress of student-athletes on an ongoing basis.

Assist with on-campus recruiting visits for student-athletes by initially assessing their APSU admission status and academic eligibility status according to NCAA standards. This includes being one of only two people responsible for transfer assessments.

Minimum bachelor’s degree.

Proven experience in academic athletic advising at the college level.
