Description of the situation

The Pingry School is seeking a full time position Assistant Director of Athletics – Equipment and Operations To lead equipment, uniforms and related operational support for 35 athletic programs and more than 90 middle and high school teams. This role builds and owns the purchasing, inventory, dispensing, maintenance and laundry/repair systems, ensuring a polished, reliable and championship-level student-athlete experience.

This position reports to the Deputy Director of Athletics, collaborates closely with the Assistant Athletic Directors, and provides critical infrastructure to the department. He complements and supports the work of the Assistant Director of Athletics for Student Athlete Success by focusing on brand execution (uniforms, apparel and equipment display) and day-to-day logistics, while supporting the broader brand strategy and student experience initiatives led by Student Athlete Success.

By centralizing equipment operations, the Assistant Manager:

  • Protects financial resources through effective procurement and direct spending comparisons with budget.
  • Elevating the student-athlete experience through uniform, consistent and on-time standards.
  • Supports coaches and staff by removing operational burdens so they can focus on development and competition.
  • Develop the Pingry brand through consistent and professional on-field/on-court presentation that is aligned with corporate values.

    Education and background

    • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
    • Backgrounds that often match: Candidates with experience in NCAA athletics at the Division I, II, or III levels, particularly in Ivy-Plus, or rigorous academic environments that balance high athletic and academic standards. Professionals from high-level high school or club programs, as well as those with backgrounds in professional sports environments that require strong operations discipline, are also suitable. Experience in professional sports or Power 6 Division I programs is highly valued; Candidates must be prepared to translate that background into the unique culture and expectations of an independent school.

    Experience and certification
