Position Description:
Description of the situation
ASIAA has access to advanced observing facilities including ALMA, SMA, JCMT, the Magellan telescopes and the Subaru telescope. We are partners in the Subaru Hyper Suprime-Cam (HSC) and Prime Focus Spectrograph (PFS) projects and the GMT Consortium, and are a member of the LSST Institute of the Vera C. Rubin Observatory. We are also participating in the first optical instrument E-ELT METIS. The Greenland Telescope (GLT) has been part of the EHT and other mm/sub-mm VLBI observations (e.g., GMVA) to study the physics of black hole jet/accretion and AGN. The TAOS-2 project has begun a survey of small extra-Neptunian objects via occultation and other time-domain sciences in San Pedro Martir, Mexico. The BURSTT project is an all-sky radio telescope in Taiwan that began its search for fast radio bursts. The Instrumentation Group develops state-of-the-art instruments for telescopes from radio to infrared/optical wavelengths. The theoretical group develops theoretical models and numerical simulations, which include astrochemical and radiative transfer codes linking observations, as well as cosmological N-body codes including neutrinos. The CompAS and CHARMS projects are dedicated to developing algorithms and in-house code based on leading scientific challenges and needs. The NanoSIMS laboratory specializes in studies of pre-solar grains and ancient planetary materials. ASIAA has a dedicated CPU cluster, several GPU servers, as well as access to the National Center for High Performance Computing.
Postdoctoral positions at ASIAA are divided into three categories described below.
