Assistant or Associate Professor of Applied Mathematics

The Department of Mathematics in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky seeks a tenure-track faculty position at the assistant or associate professor level with experience in applied mathematics. We are looking for candidates with research interests in applied mathematics broadly defined to include machine learning/artificial intelligence and partial differential equations. Candidates who have research interests that align with those of relevant research groups or who have particularly strong funding potential are encouraged to apply. The expected courses this position will teach are MA 213 Calculus III, and MA 323 Mathematical Introduction to Data Science. This is a 9-month position in the regular title series with an expected start date of August 1, 2026. The successful candidate will be expected to follow a strong research program and provide high-quality teaching to both graduate and undergraduate students. The expected distribution of effort in the first year will be 25% teaching, 70% research, and 5% administrative service.
Ph.D. in Mathematics or related field from an accredited institution is required.
