Research Associate/Fellow in Electrical Machines (fixed term) at the University of Nottingham
About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented researcher to join the world-famous Institute of Power Electronics, Machinery and Control (PEMC) at the University of Nottingham and became a core member of a team working on electrical machines, electromagnetic design, magnetic and dielectric materials, thermal management and control, construction and testing of high-performance electrical machines. We are currently developing a range of electric machines with industry partners from high-speed machines for aircraft generators, compressors and electric drive units to radial, transverse and axial machines with direct drive.
About you
The successful candidate will conduct research on the development and testing of thermomechanical designs. Good communication skills are essential as the successful candidate will work closely with other colleagues and industrial partners. Candidates must have a PhD (or about to complete) or equivalent, in engineering, applied mathematics or a related subject area, with a major component in electrical machine design or analysis. Full-time working hours (36.25 hours); Fixed-term contract for two years. Job sharing arrangements may be considered.
