The Maine State Archives, a branch of the Department of State, is seeking candidates for the position of Processing Archivist II within the Archives Services Division. Responsibilities of this primary role include accessing and processing paper and digital archival collections, creating research utilities and catalog entries, and scanning archival documents in accordance with industry standards. The Processing Archivist II will work with older archival collections that have not been processed, as well as with modern collections recently transferred to the State Archives. Additionally, this role includes publishing historical materials online for public access and maintaining ArchivesSpace catalog entries to descriptive standards. Processing Archivist II also evaluates and improves the storage of archival materials to ensure their proper preservation.
