Supports the real estate practice area by drafting documents for commercial sales/lease transactions which include escrow instructions, estoppel certificates, tenant notices, consent requests, corporate authority documents, UCC statements and attachments, etc.

Responsibilities

Basic functions:

  • Orders and reviews title/survey documents, reviews leases, participates in closings (ranging from small single-site closings to large multi-site, multi-state closings), participates in/assists in managing due diligence document reviews, recording mortgages and other documents, filing UCC statements, coordinating post-closing distributions and other post-closing work
  • Drafting documents, correspondence, and ownership and survey objection letters
  • Maintains multiple projects on schedule to close and meets all deadlines
  • Prepares closing folders, UCC searches and other typical real estate tasks
  • Assists with administrative tasks including updating attorney case files. Volumes. Save, scan, print, and organize documents on the job site
  • Assists with closings and document preparation
  • Meets company expectations for billable work hours and utilization
  • Adheres to best practices for entering daily billable client work time; Attendance and departure procedures and leave requests
  • Flexibility to work overtime and travel as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required to achieve company goals and objectives

Qualifications

Education/Training/Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Paralegal certification from ABA Certified Paralegal preferred

Professional Experience:

  • Previous experience working in a law firm is preferred
  • We are ready to train the right person

Technical skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products required
  • Research capabilities
  • Knowledge of CT Advantage.com, xpedite, or similar computer sites/systems is required to prepare UCC filing forms
  • Ability to learn new software quickly

Performance attributes:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate effectively and in a professional manner with all levels of the company and external suppliers
  • Ability to work in a team environment and effectively support the pressing needs of the company
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines with changing priorities
  • Must be a self-starter with a high level of initiative
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to anticipate needs
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to handle multiple projects
  • Maintains confidentiality and exercises discretion
  • Practices strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills

Physical requirements:

  • May require occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds.

The typical pay scale for this position is between $120,000 and $159,000, although the actual wage or salary could be lower or higher if the candidate’s education, experience, skills, and internal pay alignment differ from those stated.
