On-Call Mandarin Teacher, High School (Grades 8-12)

The Senior School at Crofton House is defined by exceptional teachers who provide a collaborative, inquiry-based and student-centred curriculum in every subject. Through our educational program, students enhance their critical thinking and problem-solving skills in well-equipped, bright, and technology-rich learning environments. We are currently looking for a Mandarin Teacher to join our on-call roster for the 2025/26 academic year.

Key Responsibilities/Responsibilities:

• On-Call Teacher (Grades 8-12)

• Leave detailed notes for the teacher after each day

• Support in supervising students during non-instructional times

• Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff as required

• Provide personalized instruction and learning support to individual students as required

• Participate in co-curricular activities and clubs as required

• Understand and implement all health and safety procedures

• Other duties are assigned as required

Qualifications:

• Essential: BC Ministry of Education certification or Independent school certificate Qualification criteria

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with a focus in Mandarin and qualifications to teach at intermediate and tertiary levels

• Experience as a Mandarin teacher at high school level

• A comprehensive understanding of current educational practices outlined in British Columbia Ministry of Education documents

• Knowing Chinese made easy, QTalk, and Ponddy, is an asset

• Experience in an independent school, an asset

• Awareness of learning styles among girls and young women

• Collaborative and energetic with a passion for teaching

• Committed to the craft of teaching, best practices and standards of professional practice

• Excellent interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills

• You are legally entitled to work in Canada
