Lecturer in Midwifery at the University of Galway

Applications are invited for an appointment as a Lecturer in Midwifery at the University of Galway on a full-time permanent contract.

The University of Galway’s School of Nursing and Midwifery is a dynamic, innovative and research active school with vibrant teaching and research programmes. Midwifery lecturers are responsible for a variety of duties in teaching, supervising students, and developing and organizing courses. Working as part of a team, the successful candidate will contribute to all aspects of teaching and associated administration across all midwifery programmes. In addition, contribute to teaching across the school’s programmes, whether in classrooms, skills labs, simulation suites, clinical settings or online. Curriculum development and relevant practices will be undertaken alongside contribution to the development of student placements and initiatives.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the research outputs of the School and specifically play a leading role in the future development of research objectives at the University of Galway.

Candidates must have an excellent academic record with appropriate professional and academic qualifications and must have experience teaching at third level institution(s). Experience in program development is preferred, and applicants must demonstrate clinical credibility in midwifery and conduct research.

Salary: €64,260 to €102,513 per year (applies to new arrivals as of January 2011)
