The successful candidate will be expected to have a significant leadership impact within his or her academic unit and individual and collaborative research in the field of power electronics, machinery and control. The role holder will be expected to conduct and lead high quality, impactful research at the cutting edge of power electronics, machinery and control, while demonstrating exceptional research leadership within their academic unit and the wider scientific community.

The appointed person is also expected to lead the development and implementation of long-term research strategies aligned with the University’s objectives, and to secure significant external funding to support large-scale, interdisciplinary projects. The role holder will shape the intellectual agenda of his or her field, lead initiatives that expand the frontiers of knowledge, influence public policy or industry practice, and enhance the University’s international reputation as a center for cutting-edge research.

Candidates must have a PhD in power electronics, machinery and drives or a closely related field, with a proven track record of leading high-impact, interdisciplinary research, securing major grants and achieving transformative results. Strong research, leadership and outstanding communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences, and a commitment to mentoring early-career researchers and fostering an inclusive research environment are also essential.

Salary will be in the range of CNY 635,038 to CNY 780,622 per year depending on skills and experience (salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance). In addition, an attractive package including employment support, education and insurance allowance will be provided for international appointments.

The position will initially be offered on a fixed-term contract with the University of Nottingham, Ningbo, China for a period of 3 years commencing January 2026 or soon thereafter.
