Position Summary The Director of Alumni Relations and Career Transitions provides personal support to alumni and firm attorneys navigating career changes. This role helps connect candidates to relevant opportunities, maintains graduate-focused career platforms and databases, and supports the promotion of the company’s graduate job board as a value-added resource for clients and partners. The Manager also oversees job-related content, provides user support, and manages projects related to platform improvements and resource development. In collaboration with internal teams and external partners, this role contributes to the vision, function, and strategic integration of the company’s functional transformation initiatives. Job Duties and Responsibilities Provide personal support to firm attorneys, alumni, and other individuals affiliated with the firm who are exploring new career opportunities, including job search strategies and resources. Build and maintain relationships with candidates to support recruitment for client roles and other strategic positions. Managing and updating a comprehensive database of open jobs. Build and maintain relationships with alumni, recruiters and other strategic contacts to expand talent pipelines and obtain high-quality job opportunities and referrals. Provide resume guidance, resume, cover letter, LinkedIn profile comments, and interview preparation support to corporate lawyers navigating career transitions. Support efforts to promote the Career Transitions Program and Graduate Job Board as a value-added resource for partners to share with clients seeking qualified candidates. Maintain and update the career transitions database and career support section of the alumni network platform, including career development resources. Develop communications to promote Alumni Platform engagement, provide basic user support and troubleshooting assistance to Alumni users as needed. The project manages platform upgrades and improvements, tracking progress and achieving results. Identify trends, define metrics, and produce analytical reports to support career transformation initiatives. Ensure accuracy and compliance with data privacy policies across all databases and platforms. Develop and produce communications, including webinars, social media posts and related content, to enhance the company’s alumni relations, career transition programs and overall engagement. Collaborate across departments and effectively manage stakeholders to increase program visibility internally and externally, and support continuous integration into company operations and programming. Support additional projects related to the company’s alumni relations and career transition initiatives. Perform other duties as assigned. Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree required. Juris Doctor (JD) strongly preferred. An advanced degree in a relevant field such as marketing, business or communications is an added advantage (e.g. MBA). Experience: At least seven (7) years of experience working in a law firm’s learning and development department, a law school’s career services office, or other role providing professional services to attorneys or law students. – At least four (4) years of experience working with databases and performing quality control of data entries. A minimum of three (3) years of experience developing and implementing communications campaigns and accompanying deliverables. Deep market knowledge and understanding of the business and legal landscape. Working knowledge of project management, customer relationships, pipelines, and experience management platforms such as SharePoint, Salesforce, Foundation, and LinkedIn Recruiter is preferred. Experience working with sensitive or confidential information. Experience presenting to peers and senior management in professional or client-facing settings. Skills: Excellent writing, copywriting, proofreading and critical thinking skills. Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments, build trust and adapt messages to different audiences. Highly organised, with keen attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy across deliverables. Ability to think creatively and generate new ideas to improve engagement, communication, or operational effectiveness. Skilled in conducting online research to support professional programming, content development, and outreach initiatives. Demonstrate analytical thinking and creative problem-solving abilities. Proficient in Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint (for visual presentations) and Excel (for reports and analysis). Experience with design tools used to create charts, graphs, and other visual materials or ability and desire to learn. Other Supervisory Responsibilities: None Equipment Used: Personal computer and other office equipment such as telephone, calculator, fax machine, copier, scanner, etc. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods, as the role involves extensive computer use and meetings. Repetitive eye, finger, hand, and wrist dexterity associated with prolonged computer use, including typing and using a mouse. Efficiently use computers, communications devices, and other digital collaboration tools. Have sufficient visual acuity to perform activities such as reading and interpreting written documents, computer screens, and other visual displays. Hear and understand verbal communication, including conversations and instructions, to facilitate effective collaboration and coordination with team members and stakeholders. Ability to communicate clearly and influence across all levels of the organization to support strategic initiatives and engage stakeholders. Ability to manage one’s emotions and interact effectively with colleagues and stakeholders in a collaborative work environment. Exercise independent judgment and discretion in a fast-paced environment, adapt to changing work situations and demonstrate flexibility to support department initiatives. High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. Able to self-manage tasks and deadlines in a remote or hybrid work environment, ensuring productivity and responsiveness without direct supervision. Ability to focus, think critically, and analyze situations to support sound decision making in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Ability to provide high quality, service-oriented support to internal and external stakeholders. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion. Working Conditions: Works in a typical office environment and/or remotely. You are sometimes called upon to work hours that exceed your normal daily schedule. PAY RANGE: This represents the current lower and upper end of the Reed Smith salary range for this position. Actual pay may vary based on various factors, including but not limited to location and experience.
