Salary range:
$75,289 – $112,931

This position will be responsible for supporting all aspects of the AFSCME Digital team. Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Digital and Marketing, this position will assist in the creation, production and maintenance of online content used to support legislative, policy, regulatory and fundraising communications. Additional duties include:

Duties:

  • Supports all digital programs including email, social media, text messaging, and paid marketing.
  • Produces well-written, concise digital messages that support larger organizational initiatives for social media, email, and text messaging programs.
  • Works with the digital team to provide support and training to affiliates, especially regarding digital programs.
  • Supports the development, troubleshooting, testing and launch of online platforms.
  • Combines website, email and social media analytics into reports.
  • Optimize online content for best performance.
  • Monitor, update and create content for organizational profiles on social media platforms.
  • Supports the development of digital materials for legislative, political, organizational, and other campaigns.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

requirements:

Education and experience:
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with courses in communications, journalism, political science, or liberal arts and at least three (3) years of relevant work experience in online communications or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the following knowledge, skills, and abilities.

skills:

  • Proven ability to use online tools to connect with target groups and motivate them to take action, including email, text messaging, social media, and paid marketing.
  • Experience creating engaging content for online consumption.
  • Experience using a customer relationship management system (e.g. Business Web).
  • Strong digital writing skills, with the ability to condense and convey information clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to train employees with different skill levels to use digital tools.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, with emphasis on Photoshop.
  • Experience using Excel to compile analytics reports.
  • Ability to work independently, collaborate and work well with employees at all levels and in a team environment.
  • Ability to handle heavy workloads and juggle competing priorities.
  • Ability to work long hours to meet deadlines.
  • Flexibility, positive attitude and superior attention to detail.

Preferred experience:

  • Experience with content management systems (CMS), such as WordPress and/or Drupal. HTML, CSS and JavaScript coding skills.
  • Familiarity with digital advertising, such as Facebook Ads Manager.
  • Knowledge of digital project management software, methodologies, processes and workflows.
  • Experience managing a social media community, specifically comment moderation.

Travel/work hours:

  • Ability to travel for AFSCME business, including political and organizational campaigning, required.
  • Extended hours including weekends required.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
