Artificial intelligence, when used wisely, can help address the major challenges the world faces today, whether in healthcare, global security, or the environment.

The Institute works to provide the networks, platforms and tools that the King’s and wider AI community need to achieve this, bringing together King’s AI experts from across disciplines, as well as collaborators and partners from other universities, industry, government and civil society.

Our priorities are:

  • Supporting King’s to respond to global challenges through academic excellence with innovation and impact through proactive leadership to develop interdisciplinary research, community coordination and ways of working
  • Equipping King’s research communities to conduct research in, for, and to use well with AI
  • Enabling King’s research expertise to be more fully utilized for real-world impact including policy and regulatory development

About the role

King’s College London is seeking to appoint an individual with a strong public profile, established and influential networks and experience in performing roles of national importance in the context of Artificial Intelligence to establish and chair an Advisory Board for the King’s Institute for Artificial Intelligence.

The new Board and Chair will contribute to King’s position as a globally recognized thought leader in AI research and policy. The successful candidate will build a bridge between academia, industry and policy makers, and leverage high-level networks to raise the Institute’s profile and external impact.

This will be a 0.2FTE role offered on a fixed term basis for an initial period of 3 years.

This is a part-time position (7 hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed-term contract until 16 January 2029.
