Associate Professor of Statistics at the University of Oxford

Location: 24-29 St Giles, Oxford, OX1 3LB

The Department of Statistics and Merton College are hiring an Associate Professor in Statistics. The successful candidate will receive the honorary title of University Lecturer in Statistics at Merton College.

The position is being offered on a permanent basis from April 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position will be based in the Department of Statistics.

The successful candidate will have a PhD in Statistics or a related discipline, an outstanding research record, as well as the ability to attract research funding. The Department seeks candidates with interests in any area of ​​statistical research, which integrates well with research conducted by current members of the Department. They will have the skills and enthusiasm to lecture at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, on a wide range of topics within statistics, and to supervise students.

The post holder will join a dynamic and collaborative statistics department. The Department conducts world-leading research in computational statistics, machine learning, theoretical statistics, and probability as well as in the areas of applied statistics, including statistical and population genetics, bioinformatics, econometrics, statistical epidemiology, and statistical finance.
