Part time, 33.3 hours per week

The Academic Success Team, based within the wider Student Support and Success department, are looking for an Academic Skills Teacher (specialist in English) to join their busy and dynamic team.

The post holder’s main duties are to provide high quality academic skills and English language support to students from all programs and levels, helping them meet the challenges of university study and reach their academic potential. This will include student assistance with individual appointments, general and tailored group workshops (including within the curriculum), and transition activities. The position holder will work across the student body but with a particular focus on supporting students who use English as an additional language. The post holder will also provide support for peer-led academic learning plans and other administrative duties as required.

You will have a first degree or equivalent, an English language teaching qualification (DELTA, CELTA or similar), significant experience of teaching English and experience teaching academic or basic skills to adults or secondary school/university students. The ability to relate to a wide range of students and excellent communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
