Research Associate (Health Economic Modeling) Year 7 at the University of Liverpool

Are you looking for a role in health research that has a real impact on policy? With academic freedom and intellectual challenge? And a great work-life balance in one of the best cities in the world?

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with an interest in Health Technology Assessment (HTA) to join our Liverpool Review and Implementation Group (LRiG). LRiG is based in the Department of Health Data Sciences (HDS), part of the Institute of Population Health (IPH) at the University of Liverpool. This is an exciting opportunity for an early-career health economic modeler to help shape health policy and practice in the UK and internationally.

As part of the NHRI’s External Evaluation Group, you will play a pivotal role in generating and critiquing evidence to inform healthcare decision-making. You will work closely with an experienced multidisciplinary team of systematic reviewers, health economists and statisticians to critique economic evidence submitted to the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) as part of the Technology Appraisal process and other NIHR HTA projects and synthesize evidence as necessary. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to other projects either in research ways or through collaboration with university colleagues, NHS partners and industry on applied projects.

You will have at least a Master’s degree in health economics, operational research, statistics, mathematics or a related field and some knowledge of HTA methods (eg cost-effectiveness analysis or decision modeling). Experience of NICE operations (eg TA or HealthTech) would be an advantage, but full training and support will be provided. We can also support part-time study for a PhD.
