Conditions of the vacancy: 24 month fixed term contract

Salary Details: Grade 7 – £39,906 per annum only due to funding restrictions, pro rata if part-time

About the role

The BHF Leicester Center of Research Excellence is seeking… Research participant To join the Real World Evidence Unit in Leicester and provide applied epidemiological research within the theme of population.

You will work with large-scale real-world datasets (eg UK Biobank, Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD), Hospital Episode Statistics) to explore cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, using advanced statistical methods such as survival analysis, causal inference and prediction modelling. You will contribute to study design, data preparation and statistical support across BHF Center of Research Excellence projects, and collaborate with teams across the university.

You will be part of a £3 million program that translates research into diagnostics, therapeutics and policy, with opportunities to publish, present and apply for future funding.

The University of Leicester has received a £3 million Research Excellence Award over five years from the British Heart Foundation. Under the leadership of Professor Andre Inge, together with the six leaders, a new center of research excellence will be developed. The center will build on our world-leading research in cardiovascular disease through three research themes, ‘Discovery’, ‘Interventions’ and ‘Populations’. Working across themes and with multiple centers of research excellence for diabetes research; Artificial intelligence, data analysis and modeling; Environmental health, sustainability and ethnic health research demonstrating world-leading research will be at the forefront of the centre’s strategy and growth.

About you

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Experience analyzing electronic health records or surveillance data
  • Strong statistical and methodological experience
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to impactful and comprehensive research
