Director of Bioinformatics (at Technical Director level) in the Bioinformatics Core of the Center for Panoramic Sciences (CPO) (Ref: 533322) (to start as soon as possible, on a two-year basis with acknowledgment at the end of the contract and the University’s contribution to the retirement benefit scheme, totaling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal for satisfactory performance)

The role

  • Assist the core manager in daily operations, strategic planning and service development
  • Lead and deliver bioinformatics analyzes for high-throughput and multi-sequencing projects
  • Supervise, train and mentor junior bioscientists and research staff
  • Develop, maintain and improve reproducible analysis pipelines and workflows
  • Providing expert consultation to researchers on study design, analysis, and data interpretation
  • Coordinate with other CPOs to ensure integrated and efficient service delivery

Qualifications and qualities

  • Ph.D. degree in bioinformatics, computer science, biological sciences, or related disciplines
  • Ideally at least 10 years of relevant experience, ideally including at least 3 years in a supervisory or team leadership role
  • Background or experience in a bioinformatics facility, service platform, or academic setting is an advantage
  • Strong technical skills in Python, R, Linux/UNIX, workflow management, and reproducible research practices
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: analysis of genomic, transcriptomic, or single-cell data
  • Excellent communication skills, proactive, independent and enjoy teamwork
  • Willing to take on new challenges and able to meet tight deadlines
