locationLondon -based (SW1X 8PQ) with the possibility of remote work (from another CLA office or house) to two days a week

Country Land and Business Association (CLA) is a dynamic organic organism with progressive thinking for landowners, property and rural companies, which was defending the interests of rural areas in England and Wales for more than 100 years. CLA members have or run about half of the rural lands in England and Wales and more than 250 different species of companies.

We are now looking for a Land use policy consultant specializing in agriculture
To join our expert team in London. This role is suitable for someone with experience in advising farmers and knowledge of a wide range of issues facing agricultural companies throughout the country.

The policy of agriculture and the environment in England continues to develop. The climate change and the uninterrupted geopolitical context means that the flexible agriculture sector has become more important than ever. This is a unique opportunity to influence national policy, support land owners and farmers, and help forming the future of this sector.

What will you do?

  • Development and advocacy of CLA policy on agriculture, trade and food security issues.
  • Providing experts advice to CLA members regarding sustainable agriculture incentives, productivity plans and issues related to sustainable and profitable agriculture.
  • CLA representation in meetings with the government, industry and stakeholders.
  • Write policy summaries, consulting responses and members ’directives.
  • Present in the activities, conferences and agricultural exhibitions throughout the country.

What we are looking for

  • Strong knowledge of the agricultural sector and supply chains.
  • A good understanding of policy related to agriculture, land use and relevant environmental policy.
  • Excellent communication skills, whether written or oral.
  • Cooperative.
  • A beginner can determine opportunities to make a difference, work without supervision and fulfill the final dates.
  • A passion for rural affairs and sustainable and profitable agriculture.
