Salary range: $65,000 – $97,000
General statement of duties and responsibilities:
This position supports all aspects of DC 37 Communications, including member communications, media relations, website, social media, e-newsletters, graphic design and campaigns. Under the supervision of the Director of Communications, this position will contribute to the creation and distribution of content used to support the DC 37 brand.
Main responsibilities include:
- Executes web, email, social media (paid and organic) and display advertising campaigns to promote DC 37 programs and initiatives.
- Contributes to strategic communications campaigns and performs duties related to disseminating information to members, the media and the public.
- Manages the Union’s social media accounts, develops content and responds to comments/messages under the guidance of the Manager.
- Evaluates metrics and effectiveness of digital media tactics; Track results and reports results through Google and social analytics to help improve content and channel layout.
- Supports the development of all print and digital content, including reporting and photography for the quarterly news magazine, the Newsitletter, and other member-facing materials.
- Contributes to website and blog content; Posts updates in a timely manner.
- Collaborates with director and team members to ensure content aligns with overall marketing communications strategy and has a consistent tone, style and voice that reflects the DC 37 brand.
- Develops and contributes to the internal content calendar, including scheduling posts, resource content, writing, and editing.
- Collaborates with other team members and departments on distribution and promotion of content across all marketing channels.
- Stays current with industry trends in digital media communications and provides insights, helping to formulate concept ideas and pitches for new opportunities to develop and improve marketing and branding efforts.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, English or related field; Or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- 5+ years of professional experience in marketing and communications.
- 3+ years of professional moderated social media management experience.
- Well-organised and strong attention to detail and deadlines; Ability to work independently and in a team environment with employees and stakeholders at all levels.
- Excellent grammar and writing ability. Strong digital writing skills with the ability to condense and convey information clearly and concisely through social media.
- Demonstrated ability to use online tools to communicate with, engage and motivate target groups to take action including social media, email and paid marketing.
- Experience with graphic design and content development across a variety of online and print channels; Working knowledge of Canva, Photoshop and Illustrator A Plus.
- Prefer experience with front-end web and content management systems, especially WordPress.
- Ability to travel locally for content sourcing purposes.
